Home Sweet Home : Kitchen Cabinet

My favorite area...heart of the house...is of coz the kitchen...at least to the wife n mother of the house....ive always dreamt to have two kitchens, a wet and dry kitchen...a dry kitchen like in drama series 'Friends', an open kitchen like dat where families hang out, maybe surfing for the parents and doing homework for the kids...

Luckily, my kitchen is quite small and due to no extra budget, we didnt do two kitchens...i even tot not to do the kitchen cabinet, to save up first...but hubby persuaded me to do it with the reason 'jangan komplen kat i kalo u xdak mood nk masak sbb dapur xbest'....dat means he wants me to cook more aggresively than i do now =P....so, i agreed to do it...'isteri mithali kan ikot cakap somi' *wink wink*...

There are two choices of doing the kitchen cabinet ; wood and stainless steel....if your house's history is like dis :

hutan -> kebun getah -> kebun kelapa sawit -> taman perumahan

i would suggest u do a stainless steel kitchen...y? becoz of termites...ive heard stories from my frens, they spent until 5thousand ringgit and yet the problem was still not solved...so, dont want to take the risk....plus, u can un-assemble and re-assemble your kitchen cabinet if u decided to move...no hassle of cockroach or ants going inside as it is seal tight....

then, deciding the table top....if u got a lot of money, go for granite...lower quality will be solid surface...only enuf money, go for tiles (if ur kitchen cabinet is wood) or plain stainless steel (beware! will look like kedai mamak =P )...dad sponsored our tiles....we went to the ceramic world behind carrefour, it was hugeeeeee.....very big with relaxing atmosphere (ala2 spa gitu, sape yg keja cni mesti xtensen =P)...fall in love with the tiles, total cost was about RM700....

my initial theme for the kitchen was to be an autumn-themed like i've seen on the internet...wall painted brown, doors are orange...wait a minute, ORANGE DOORS??!!? hubby disagree of coz, saying it could create misunderstandings n basically people laughing at us (soooo un-malay)...

'apa kata wat kaler hitam'
'boring la'...'ha, bleh tapi dinding nak cat 4 kaler, jalur2 melintang, from bottom red, orange, kuning n hijau'....
'mcm kaler jamaica jaaaa, u ni mengarut laaaa'
'alaaaaaa, padanla kalo ngn kabinet itam'..
'nope'..
'lawaaaa'...
'xpa, research lg'...
'uhuk uhuk'..'nk nangis dahhhh ni'...

so, after browsing the internet n mags...i finally come out the idea like dis :

all in all it was a good experience, but it was a pain ordeal to deal with the shop as the designer were quoting different things than wat we wanted...she sketched 3,4 times before we finally agreed...we just did bottom part first as dats what we can afford at the moment...the top cabinet wont be as expensive coz theres no table top or drawers to add...we did asked for the quotation if using wood but with all the drawers, glass doors n table top, the price was still more or less the same....total cost is about RM7k....
