Near end of 2011

Alhamdulillah, Praise to God now I can be up and writing blogs again...I can even open my fb now (i used to be sooo sick of it) ....

I think thanks to the little trip down south.....I've improved a lot after the vacation, not tremendously a lot but simply better than before....I still can't wash the dishes (I CANNOT SMELL SUNLIGHT, maybe after dis i'll change to lil girl's milk bottle cleaning soap) .... or cooking....

Next year our family will embrace new changes, new challenges, new lives....Are we prepared for it? My guess is still 30-70, 70% not prepared....An unknown future awaits us, exciting but still dangerous...with a new family member coming along....Can we cope? We'll be needing a lot of prayers....

A lot of my frens are going thru changes as well....most of them already get married/going to....some had babies....some transferring to another country....some had/going to have 2nd baby....we are maturing along with the changes that is surrounding us....

I surely feel not dat young anymore...there are people younger than me starts working, calling me 'kak intan'.....aargghh (i dont like being called kak, making me feel old.....respect doesnt mean dat u need to call somebody 'kakak'....i know its a malay culture thingy....still i beg to differ in this matter...well atleast if u r 10yrs++ gap, u deserved to be called 'kakak'...but if ur only 2-3 yrs gap, do u need to? i still wanna feel young u know...'kakak' juz make me aged...adek-my own sista, u r an exception).....im starting to feel like an adult now (what??!? now only u r accepting dat fact??! u already 1 husband wit 1 child...now only u feel like an adult???!!) ...

Whatever it is, come what may (motto for my old st george's school i think...is it?? hmmm...)

Ramadhan...new resolutions

  • dis few weeks was hell for me at work...i got a lot of issues dat required my full attention....huuwwwaaaaaarrrggghhhhh!&*$%^&*??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cooking : i plan to cook atleast one dish a day....everytime when we're breaking fast at home....to motivate myself, i plan (in excel sumore!!) the list of dishes...much2 easier than cracking ur head everyday thinking wat am i going to cook...wat is hubby going to eat...wat is lil girl going to eat....wat is delicious....i dun want it to be the same as yesterday...thus, another headache besides than the stomachache...

  • iftar : taking the fasting month rather +vely dis yr.....another method to lose weight hihi....so my resolution is to cut down rice intake n esp food-dat-looks-yummy-at-pasar-ramadhan-when-ur-hungry-at-6pm-after-a-hard-day-at-work....all the waste down the drain...pocket money also drain....

  • tarawikh : 4 days has gone by....n i've managed to do it...2 times!!....by myself!!...at home!!...dats sure an accomplishment right....u know how hard it is to do it by urself at home vs going to the mosque following the imam...altho only 8 rakaat, surah lazim (so its quite short =P)...dats surely beats last yr record of only once.....kudos to lil cutie pie for sleeping early....hope to maintain the consistency....

  • sahur : one thing i can be proud of myself is i always wakes up early in the morning to prepare for sahur (sum people eats before going to sleep at 1-2am)....dis is our 3rd yr of fasting together....alhamdulillah, i still manage to fulfill my responsibility...warming up yesterday's iftar dish...frying nuggets/eggs...boiling telur masin...sumtimes even cooking the rice at 5am (still sempat tu b4 subuh !!).....

  • raya prep : recycle from sis's wedding...additional tshirts (hubby), accessory n tudung (me), gowns n socks n blouse n skirt n mayb pants (lil girl)....see who has the most new things here?? dis chapter, yet to be closed....

3D video causes extra eye strain and fatigue says Samsung study

taken from here :

http://www.soyacincau.com/2011/07/25/3d-video-causes-extra-eye-strain-and-fatigue-says-samsung-study/

Here’s another reason why 3D is pointless. A study funded in part by Samsung’s R&D division conducted by the University of California-Berkley revealed that 3D displays cause extra eye fatigue. The study, published in the Journal of Vision last week found that when test subjects watched 3D content, they reported more eye strain and fatigue and less vision clarity afterward than when they watched 2D content.

This additional eye strain is caused by the disparity between the depth of the screen and the depth of the 3D image, though researchers also found that the relationship between image depth and nearness of the screen is also a factor in causing eye strain.

Essentially what this means is that while a cinematic 3D experience in a movie theater can be relatively comfortable, watching 3D movies at home is likely to cause stress to your eyeballs due to the much shorter distance available between the viewer and the display. Though this is not to say that watching a 3D movie in a cinema is not strenuous either.

Where at home and with 3D mobile devices like a 3D smarthphone (like the LG Optimus 3D) or a 3D portable gaming console (like the Nintendo 3DS), a 3D content viewed over a short distance is more visually uncomfortable when the 3D image is placed in front of the screen. In a movie theaters where the distance between the screen and viewer is greater, it’s the opposite: 3D content that appear deeper within the screen or behind the screen causes more discomfort than images that jump out at you.

Hit up the source link for the full report if you want to read it. So, what are your thoughts about 3D?

say no to 3D maybe until 10-20 yrs later?? interesting....=D

Top 5 Tips to Build Wealth and Success

taken from Yahoo Finance...

Warren Buffett is worth $45 billion. That wealth isn't only a factor of savvy investing and good business — the "Oracle of Omaha" is also known as a penny pincher. Buffett still lives in the same Omaha, Neb., home he bought in 1958 for $31,500.

Follow his frugal formula, and you too may wind up with a lot more money than you ever dreamed.

This week Financially Fit covers five tips to build wealth and success.

1. Live Below Your Means.
Being wealthy isn't just a product of your salary or investment prowess; it's learning how to save.

"We can make a lot of money, you can make a little bit of money, but the second you spend all the money is when people get into trouble. Saving is the key to preserving your wealth," says Ed Butowsky, managing partner of Chapwood Capital Investment Management, a firm that manages money for wealthy individuals.

As many Americans realized during the booming real estate market, just because you think you can afford something doesn't mean you should buy it. Keeping an eye on your bottom line will pay dividends over the long term.

2. Bounce Back From Defeat
With nearly 15 million workers unemployed right now in the U.S., it's easy to get discouraged. Don't! Most successful and wealthy people have overcome obstacles and failure along the way. Steve Jobs was ousted from Apple when he was 30. Today, he's a billionaire and a legend. Plus, after getting fired, he created another billion-dollar media company, Pixar.

"Bouncing back from defeat is something all great achievers have. They have this undying belief good things will happen and will continue to happen," says Butowsky.

Take Michael Jordan. "His airness" was cut from his high school basketball team. Motivated by the rejection, Jordan became a star the next season. The rest is history.

3. Self-Promote
Regardless of the profession, the rich and successful tend to have a strong sense of self-worth — key to skillfully navigating an upward career path. Mark Hurd, who was ousted as CEO of Hewlett-Packard in August, couldn't be kept down for long. Using his business skills and connections, in September, Hurd was named president of Oracle. (Hurd and Oracle founder Larry Ellison are known to be close friends.)

4. Have Street Smarts
Bernie Madoff lived the high life for decades, scamming unsuspecting clients, with a money-making formula that proved too good to be true. Only afterward did we learn that with a little due diligence, most clients could have easily uncovered the fraud.

But it's not only the swindlers and the con men you have to watch out for. Many times, friends and family take advantage of the rich. Whether it's a handout or an investment idea, Butowsky advises his high net worth clients that in most cases, it's wisest to just say "no." The best way to do that: have someone else do it for you.

"You need to really set up a wall between you and your family," he advises. "If you don't want to give them (family or friends) money ... saying no is probably a good idea."

5. Buy Cheap
The rich can afford to splurge, but that doesn't mean they do.

John Paulson, a billionaire hedge fund manager, bought his Hamptons "dream house at a bargain basement price," according to Greg Zuckerman, author of the Paulson-based book, "The Greatest Trade Ever." The story has it that Paulson eyed the home while it was in foreclosure. Finally, on a rain-soaked day, he purchased the home on the Southampton town hall steps. He was the only bidder.

On New York City's Upper East Side, Michael's— The Consignment Shop for Women— has been a bargain-hunting destination for more than 60 years. "We have a good percentage of women who can afford to shop on Madison Avenue but really like the idea of saving that money," says proprietor Tammy Gates.

From Chanel to Gucci and Louis Vuitton, the store specializes in high-end designer merchandise for a reasonable price. Speaking of her clientele, Gates says, "they're wealthy for a reason. They recognize that bargains keep people wealthy. Paying top dollar when you don't have to doesn't make sense."
